Museum Resources

Working closely with the rover and science teams of the Life in the Atacama project, the EventScope Lab has deep access to developments in the experiment as they occur. For museums interested in creating their own Life in the Atacama exhibits with up-to-the-minute information, this page serves as a repository of resources for do-it-yourself exhibit development:

The EventScope Lab is currently collaborating with two featured museums, the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, to produce exciting exhibits and events based on the Life in the Atacama operations. If your museum is interested in collaborating more closely with EventScope to create dynamic and engaging exhibits highlighting the NASA-sponsored Life in the Atacama project, please contact us.

Interactive Software and Modules

EventScope is a suite of software tools for viewing and authoring interactive, 3D remote experiences. Three implementations of EventScope have been released with museums specifically in mind: the Kiosk Viewer, the Wide-Angle Viewer, and TerrainScope. In addition, EventScope Viewer makes an excellent classroom aide, while the Authoring Tool allows users to customize content and create their own modules.

EventScope Kiosk Viewer
EventScope software with a simplified GUI optimized for use as a public interactive display. Available for Mac and PC. Download

EventScope Wide-Angle Viewer
Wide-angle version of the Viewer software with a simplified GUI optimized for use as a public interactive display. Circular GUI design and wide-angle view are well-suited for immersive projection systems such as the VisionStation by Elumens. Available for Mac and PC. Download

TerrainScope
TerrainScope contains multi resolution orbital data sets representing Mars and Earth, allowing users to visually explore Earth and Mars in a 3D immersive environment. Complements Atacama data by providing context and a point of comparison with Mars. Works well with immersive displays such as the Elumens VisionStation. Available for PC. Download

EventScope Viewer
Free, easy to use, 3D software for exploring mission data, remote experience files and planetary science lessons. Works nicely for classroom situations. Available for Mac and PC. Download

EventScope Authoring Tool
Author navigable 3D remote experiences, science lessons, and compelling scientific presentations. Customize Atacama modules for a specific purpose or create brand new modules. Available for Mac and PC. Download

Interactive Modules
Atacama-specific EventScope modules (PSEs) are available online through the Remote Download Location (RDL) under the "Life in the Atacama" tab. The Atacama PSEs consist of data from orbital views down to microscopic views. Samples ordered by the science team will be available in these modules as well.
